Does anyone get extremely frustrated by the fact that they are trying so hard to get away from each other, but are having such a difficult time?
Cherrysuumer1232
Oooo, that's beautiful. At the end, they looked like they were trying to get away from each other, but were having a hard time of it.

Yes, binary fission is the most common term for this type of reproduction. Some people restrict the phrase "binary fission" to prokaryotes (bacteria), but it is widely, and quite correctly, used for cell division in protists like Paramecium.
Bruce Taylor
These were the first single celled organisms that I ever saw! Is this binary fission?

The song "I'm Schizophrenic (No I'm Not)" is by a small Chicago-based band called the New Duncan Imperials. I don't know much about them, but they seem to have been a fun group with a taste for the absurd. The song is one of YouTube's free Audioswap selections.
Bruce Taylor
Whats song is that? thats song is so make our spirit.

They are fairly easy to find in stagnant ponds and ditches. Once you've found a few, it is not hard to cultivate them. They eat the bacteria that form in water steeped in grass & leaves; so, you can boil some hay and let the water stand for a few days, until it is colonized with bacteria and small flagellates. If you add a bit of pondwater to that nourishing medium, paramecia will spread rapidly.
Bruce Taylor
Where do you get the paramecium?
