So the Doctor calls him by the wrong name? I guess that would be a lot like Hartnell's Doctor since he frequently muffed his lines. That would make for a good scene, though.
Sheiky06
That will be a neat trick since a lot of those people are dead.

But he also established it as a "rumor", and so that's just what it is.

The problem is RTD with this. He established that Ian and Barbara didn't age because of the Doctor, and are still teachers in modern day London. So it's going to be hard to get William as the actor, seeing as the character hasn't aged.

I've seen that, as well as a "Totter's Lane" sign.
OttselSpy24
There is a pic on Twitter that would seem to hint at an appearance.

To think this great man is still alive he is what nearly 90 now he MUST MUST have a small appearance in the 5oth special!

The Great Intelligence itself was from the classic show anyway. As well as the new opening, very pre-relaunch.

Moffat included more homages to the classic series in the first three episodes of series 5 then Davies did in his entire run as producer ... so maybe stop hating on him.

I'm afraid that that was just a rumor... Although if it happens I won't be surprised. :)

Louise Jameson and Peter Davison are "in talks" (Along with John Barrowman)
OttselSpy24
It'd be a terrible shame if William didn't at least have a cameo in the 50th Anniversary special. I really hope Moffat just doesn't act like an arrogant shit and actually includes stuff from before 2005....

I've been watching the classic series. I haven't got very far yet, but I really am loving it. Ian returning for the 50th anniversary would be the greatest thing ever.

Attention everyone; I accidentally left out quite a bit of this, at least two muinets, so I'm re posting this. Check under the "video responces" section for the full version.

Damnit why the hell did they show the grandfather clock at the end?! Everytime I see a grandfather clock I think of the Master...
iLikeTheUDK
That would be such a touching moment. Hopefully they won't miss an opportunity such as that. The guy is already pushing 87. He ain't getter younger, folks!

Oh, meh, still, looking up old companions on google just by searching TARDIS......hmmmm....XD

I'm missing the middle part, so I may repost this one day.
OttselSpy24
No, she said she had heard a rumor saying so. Obviously it wasn't true, or at least wasn't supposed to be taken literally.
OttselSpy24
Wierd, I was pretty sure Sarah Jane said Ian and Barbara, haven't aged a day at the end of "Death of the Doctor"
kylephantom4
I hope Ian returns for the 50th anniversary. I think something simple would be best: The Doctor and Ian, on a parkbench, Ian not knowing who he is talking to. The Doctor thinks about how far he's come since he kidnapped two human school teachers. As he leave, the Doctor calls him "Chatterton". Ian looks up, and think that'd be impossible. Impossible like meeting Marco Polo, giant antz, acid seas, mutants in metal shells, cavemen and boxes that are bigger on the inside. Impossible, but maybe...
mrfipp
Yes.
